Dezeen Awards team "made their mark" with the first ever winners' ceremony, taking home the title of Best New Awards Event at the Awards Awards 2019

Dezeen Awards named Best New Awards Event

Dezeen Awards has won the title of Best New Awards Event at the Awards Awards 2019, for creating a winners' ceremony that "would be remembered".

The award was given for the celebration of the first ever Dezeen Awards held at the Tate Modern in November 2018.

"In a saturated market, the organisers made their mark extremely well for this inaugural event curating an art exhibition feel rather than a traditional awards show, ensuring the guest experience would be remembered through their use of designers, composers, art photographers and an unusual venue," said the Awards Awards judges.

Guests at the Dezeen Awards ceremony enjoyed an immersive experience orchestrated by architect Sarah Izod. The creative director of the event set the scene by filling the venue with otherworldly stilt-walkers dressed in long white gowns flitting around a ghostly tree installation.

Izod took inspiration from Maurice Sendak's 1960s storybook Where The Wild Things Are when creating the enchanting setting for the ceremony.
