Lily cocktail table with Murano glass top by Tom Faulkner

Competition: win three hand-crafted cocktail tables by Tom Faulkner

In our latest competition, we've teamed up with Tom Faulkner to give a reader the chance to win three cocktail tables from the designer's Lily collection.

This competition has now closed. Congratulations to the winner, who is Laura Corrall from Norwich, UK.

The collection is based on Japanese lily pads, with the table tops originally manufactured in bronze and brass.

Tom Faulkner has updated the table's design for 2019 to feature coloured-glass tops in six different shades.

The glass lily-pad table tops are cast by hand in Murano, the renowned glass-making district just outside Venice. Each table is made to order.

We're offering one winner the chance to win a set of three bespoke Lily cocktail tables, each topped with the glass colour of their choice – azure blue, lemon yellow, orange, pine green, rose pink or smoke brown.

Each table top stands on a round steel or uncoloured-brass base with a long stem. The top attaches to the base with a freeform shape that mirrors the outer undulating form of the glass surface.

Available in three sizes at 40, 50 and 60 centimetres high, the set of tables can be placed as a standalone piece or in clusters to reflect a group of Japanese lily pads floating in calm water. The winner will receive one table in each size.

"Lily is a wonderful mix of playfulness and elegance and a useful addition to any living space," said Tom Faulkner.

To produce the glass-topped tables, sand is sourced from the island of Murano and is used in a glass craftsmanship technique that is unique to the island.

Glass made in Murano includes minerals such as copper, zinc or cobalt that give a particular glistening shine and rich colour to the finished surface. It is handcrafted using traditional techniques and tools.

"The glass is sought after personally by Faulkner himself," explained the studio. "It is treated with the highest level of care and attention so as to imbue the final product with surreally vibrant colours, unique patterns and an incredible assortment of textures."

Collections by the British designer often feature his signature use of metal in simple designs, accentuated with beautiful materials.

The majority of the pieces are handmade in Faulkner's workshop in Wiltshire, UK, which includes a metalworking forge.

The Lily cocktail tables can be paired with other items from the same collection – such as mirrors, stools and coffee tables – all featuring Murano glass, and are available to buy online.

Competition closes 19 September 2019. One winner will be selected at random and notified by email, and his or her name will be published at the top of this page.
