VDF x Ventura Projects: Peel Vase by Alyssa.Marcela

Alyssa.Marcela introduces Peel Vase Series for cut flowers

Vancouver studio Alyssa.Marcela presents Peel Vase Series, a range of vessels for cut flowers, as part of the VDF x Ventura Projects collaboration.

Exhibitor: Alyssa.Marcela
Project title: Peel Vase Series

Alyssa.Marcela is a Vancouver design duo led by Alyssa Lewis and Marcela Trejo, whose work focuses on creating objects and interior environments that offer "moments of simplicity".

The studio is introducing its Peel Vase Series as part of VDF x Ventura Projects. The collection explores the aesthetic and function of vases that are used to display cut flowers.

The Peel Vase Series comprises a set of containers made from glass and metal. Each is composed of a single cylindrical volume encased by an unfolding sheath, which is designed to evoke "the peeling of a stem," according to the duo. This form was developed using paper models, photographed above.

Alyssa.Marcela's use of glass was chosen to echo both the fragility and strength of plants.
