Lloyd Tex bookcase by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau

Dezeen Showroom: taking inspiration from hi-fi speakers, French designer Jean-Marie Massaud has created the Lloyd Tex shelving with sliding fabric panels for Poltrona Frau.

The Lloyd Tex self-supporting bookcase features panels of semi-transparent technical fabric that slide on horizontal tracks, partially obscuring the shelves' contents and creating changeable geometric patterns.

The Lloyd Tex bookcase was designed by Jean-Marie Massaud

"In Lloyd Tex, the most advanced technology comes together with traditional materials such as wood in a delicate balance between different spirits of material," said Poltrona Frau.

"And the interplay of solids and voids becomes even more evident, allowing a glimpse of the content of the freestanding bookcase, without completely revealing it."

The fabric comes in light and dark shades

The Lloyd Tex shelving comes in a range of widths and heights, including a double-sided bookcase version that can double as a space divider.

Its technical fabric is available in light and dark colours, and its slim but sturdy shelves are made of high-pressure laminate with oak veneer and a matt lead finish.
