Pratt Institute show to explore "bold work and big creative ideas"

Promotion: Pratt Institute has announced the 2022 edition of Pratt Shows: Design, its annual exhibition of work by seniors and postgraduates that explores "the future of design throughout New York City," which will run from 11 to 18 May.

Pratt Shows: Design will showcase "bold work and big creative ideas" from seniors and postgraduate students from Pratt Institute's School of Design, School of Architecture and School of Art, the school said.

The work on display will explore various disciplines in architecture and design including industrial design, interior design, architecture, jewellery design, graphic design, sustainable environmental systems and advertising.

It will also cover communications design, fashion, game design, illustration, urban placemaking, historic preservation, construction management and regional planning.

The Pratt Shows: Design exhibition will take place at Pratt's Brooklyn campus at 200 Willoughby Avenue, NY 11205.

It will also be accompanied by a related programme of events throughout New York City, including an installation at the ICFF trade show that is designed by Pratt Institute's School of Design and the National Alliance on Mental Illness's New York division.

An inflatable sculpture designed to represent the global plastic waste crisis will be on show in Time Square as part of Pratt Shows: Design.

Alongside the exhibitions, students' work will be displayed throughout New York City as part of NYCxDesign, International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), and WantedDesign.

ICFF will present a range of design collections, which are the result of a collaboration between Pratt Institute's School of Design and the New York chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), which is a non-profit charity that supports people with mental illness.

It takes place at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), Jacob Javits Convention Center, Booth #875.

Pratt Architecture, Pop Up / Drop Off
Design Pavilion 2022
Through 15 May

Pop Up / Drop Off is a research project by the Center for Design Research in Architecture where Pratt Institute students have created inflatable structures using recycled plastic and fabric.

The structures are designed to "leverage geometry and air pressure to make a Pop Up spectacle for the Drop Off of recyclable film plastic," according to Pratt Institute.

It takes place at the Design Pavillion 2022, Times Square, New York City.
