Parla to launch new furniture collection at Clerkenwell Design Week

Promotion: Turkish furniture brand Parla has announced it will make its Clerkenwell Design Week debut in 2022, where it will reveal a new collection along with a new logo and branding.

The collection features two styles of seating: the Flento Bar Stool, which has solid ash and coloured stainless steel legs and a footrest, and the Morwi A Chair, designed for outdoor use and boasting an intricate woven backrest.

It also contains the elegant storage solution called Rain and the curved Hug sofa and London pouf.

The new pieces will sit beside Parla Design's existing products at Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW), including the Rimo armchair, which won the BigSEE Product Design Award earlier this year, as well as the bestselling Arven bar stool, and the luxury car-inspired Xaylon W armchair.

Parla Design specialises in furniture for the hospitality sector, with recent projects including the Grand Hotel Birmingham, W Ibiza, the Nobu Hotels in Istanbul and London Shoreditch, and the Hutong Restaurant in New York. Its latest projects are Amano Hotel Covent Garden in London and Frederick’s Restaurant & Bar in Berlin.

According to the brand's head of design, Betül İnci, Parla combines Turkish craft heritage with a forward-looking approach.

"I would describe the aesthetic of our furniture as a contemporary reflection of our design heritage in Istanbul – a city that manages to live in several centuries at the same time – fused with different European influences, in particular Scandinavia and Italy, or with aspects of Asian styling," she said.

"This aesthetic is underpinned by designs intended for longevity and the demands of hospitality environments, as well as our commitment to sustainability."

Alongside its products, Parla's stall at CDW will feature a custom-designed bar counter, to showcase its expertise in creating bespoke pieces.

"Bespoke work is in our soul," said İnci. "In addition to our one-off pieces, we collaborate closely with our clients to customise our furniture so that it expresses their vision for the project."

Following several years of growth, Parla has recently undertaken a rebrand encompassing a new logo and visual identity, which it will unveil for the first time at the event.

The company was started over a hundred years ago and is now run by the third generation of its founding family. Its factory in Istanbul includes specialist metalworking, glass, wood and upholstery workshops.

Parla will be at Design Fields, Stand DF12 during CDW from 24 to 26 May 2022. It will daily serve cocktails from its custom bar counter, and on the final day of the event, it will host a photo contest, open to everyone.
