Dezeen teams up with IKEA, Gaggenau, Moooi and more for Milan design week

Dezeen is partnering with a host of international brands on talks and videos throughout Milan design week, including Swedish furniture company IKEA, luxury kitchen appliances brand Gaggenau and design brand Moooi.

We're teaming up with IKEA to broadcast highlights from its IKEA Festival event running throughout the week in Zona Tortona and will be hosting a series of talks on contemporary architecture and design with Gaggenau at Milan's historic Villa Necchi Campiglio (pictured top).

The Dezeen Studio team is producing a video about a new sofa by Cristina Celestino that Dutch brand Moooi is launching during Milan design week, and we are also creating a film about two new modular sofas by design studio Layer for Croatian brand Prostoria.

Dezeen is also hosting a number of other talks and panel discussions throughout the week.

Dezeen's chief content officer Benedict Hobson is hosting a panel discussion about holistic wellness and design for Panasonic Design Flux.

He will also be in conversation with Sarah Andelman as part of a collaboration with brand and retail marketing agency Liganova and will be hosting a talk about the future of craft to mark the launch of rug company Kasthall's new rug Quilt, as well as moderating a panel discussion about the metaverse with technology company Digby, design brand Refractory and Oppenheim Architecture at Alcova.

Ogonblick installation at IKEA Festival

IKEA Festival
6 to 12 June

Dezeen has teamed up with IKEA for its six-day IKEA Festival, which features exhibitions, installations and talks alongside the Swedish furniture brand's latest product launches, including collaborations with Marimekko and Sabine Marcelis.

We will be publishing video highlights throughout the week from the festival, which takes place at BASE, a 12,000-square-metre events space in the city's Zona Tortona neighbourhood.


Alcova at Milan design week 2022

Metaverse talk with Digby, Refractory, and Oppenheim Architecture at Alcova
5:00pm on 6 June

A panel of experts will discuss the implications and opportunities of the metaverse for designers and architects in this talk at Alcova (above), which is titled Metaverse: a new world of opportunity for design.

Dezeen's chief content officer Hobson will speak to technology company Digby, design brand Refractory and Oppenheim Architecture about the impact of the metaverse and how blockchain technology could transform the architecture and design industries.

The talk takes place at Alcova, Via Simone Saint Bon 1, and is free for anyone to attend. RSVP at [email protected].

Dezeen has teamed up with Croatian furniture brand Prostoria to unveil two new modular sofa systems by London design studio Layer called Rostrom and Sabat (above).

Layer founder Benjamin Hubert will tell the story behind the two new designs in an exclusive video produced by Dezeen, which we will publish on the first day of Milan design week.

Gaggenau talks
10:00am daily from 7 to 9 June

Dezeen's editor-at-large Amy Frearson will host a series of talks on contemporary architecture and design, including speakers from BIG, Foster + Partners and Yabu Pushelberg, at luxury kitchen appliance brand Gaggenau's Milan design week showcase called A Statement of Form.

Each discussion will be broadcast on Dezeen live from Milan's historic Villa Necchi Campiglio (above) from 10:00 (Milan time) on 7, 8 and 9 June.


Aldora Sofa by Christina Celestino for Moooi

7 June

As part of our ongoing collaboration with Moooi, Dezeen is producing an exclusive video to unveil a new sofa by Milanese designer Cristina Celestino (above), which the Dutch design brand is launching in Milan at its A Life Extraordinary exhibition.

Called Aldora, the sofa features a sculptural backrest informed by the shape of lily petals. The video will premiere on Dezeen on Tuesday 7 June.

Dezeen is teaming up with Panasonic Design Flux for a discussion with natural skincare and fragrance brand Haeckels, food design studio Arabeschi Di Latte and design practice Design Haus Liberty about holistic wellbeing and design

Chaired by Dezeen's chief content officer Benedict Hobson, the talk will explore how new approaches to design, creativity and emerging technologies can help us create a better future for our people and planet.

The talk takes place at Aethos Milan, Piazza Ventiquattro Maggio 8, and there are a limited number of free places. Register here to attend.

Dezeen's chief content officer Hobson will be in conversation with Sarah Andelman, founder of Just an Idea and co-founder of iconic Paris fashion boutique Colette, at Liganova's Salone Club rooftop lounge.

Titled Redefining Spaces: Creating Connections through Curation and Collaboration, the talk will explore what takes to create a relevant and meaningful retail space in an age of online omnipresence as well as the importance of curation and storytelling.

The talk is strictly invitation-only.


Quilt rug by Kasthall

This talk to celebrate the launch of Kasthall's new tufted rug called Quilt (above) will explore how to develop new expressions and techniques without losing sight of old design and craft traditions.

Titled Crafting the Future, the talk will explore the topics of craftsmanship and heritage, as well as the Kasthall design process.
