Shower tray by Bette in white shiny anti-slip finish

BetteAnti-Slip Sense surface treatment by Bette

Dezeen Showroom: German bathroom brand Bette has designed an anti-slip surface treatment that only activates when its surface is wet.

Bette has reimagined traditional methods of slip prevention, such as rubberised mats, to create a safe surface treatment that is essentially invisible.

Treated surfaces look similar to when left untreated

BetteAnti-Slip Sense is applied to glazed titanium-steel baths and shower trays to maintain their original appearance and hygiene while increasing the user's safety.

The finish provides slip resistance without making the surface harder to clean.

"BetteAnti-Slip Sense is a type of anti-slip that you can neither see nor feel," said the brand.

The anti-slip effect is only in use when the surface has water on it

"The anti-slip effect only occurs when the pressure of the body weight and water come together, providing the protection exactly when it is needed," it continued.

"When the surface is dry and the feet are dry, no additional slip resistance is required as the adhesion is high enough."
