Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture Fair seeks projects by emerging designers

Promotion: applications are open until 16 September for design schools and emerging designers to apply to present their work at Greenhouse, an area of Stockholm Furniture Fair that takes place in February 2023.

Stockholm Furniture Fair is the "world's leading meeting place for Scandinavian design", and after a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it returns to Sweden's capital in February 2023.

The fair includes a range of brands and exhibitors – 80 per cent of which are from Scandinavia.

Greenhouse is an area of the fair that displays projects by non-established designers and is intended as a stepping stone for designers to gain experience at a design fair, meet key members of the industry and further their careers.

Greenhouse is looking for furniture and lighting projects that satisfy three key criteria – curiosity, innovation and sustainability. Entrants will be assessed by a jury of well-known figures in the architecture and design industries.

Successful applicants are also offered one year of coaching from a mentor in the design industry.

This year's Greenhouse jury includes designer and interior architect, Anya Sebton; Greenhouse project manager, Jennifer Gröhn; architect and designer, Shane Schneck; architect and co-founder of Marge Arkitekter, Pye Aurell Ehrström; interior designer, Marcia Harvey Isaksson; and creative project manager at the Materials Library, Björn Florman.

According to Stockholm Furniture Fair, several Greenhouse designers have made their breakthroughs as a result of the fair, including Oki Sato from Nendo, GamFratesi, MSDS, Afteroom, and Front.

"Many designers have seen their products go into production thanks to contacts made during the event," said project manager at Greenhouse, Jennifer Gröhn.

"It's a great chance to participate in a real design fair and to exhibit among many of the big design brands while you're still at the beginning of your career."
