Twill chair by Gibson Karlo for Designbythem

Dezeen Showroom: Australian design studio Gibson Karlo has created an all-timber Twill chair for Designbythem, which is informed by the appearance of plasticine.

The Twill chair has a backrest and legs with a curved double profile and cleanly cut ends that recall the look of fresh plasticine removed from its packet. The details are meant to add a playful twist to an otherwise subtle design.

"We love how the double profile looks and functions," said Gibson Karlo co-founders Sarah Gibson and Nicholas Karlovasitis. "It was inspired by plasticine strips and the repetition seen in twill weaves."

"It creates a sense of ornament whilst creating strength in the legs and comfort in the backrest," they continued.

Made of FSC-certified solid ash timber, the Twill chair is available in a natural finish or coloured in Black, Ultra Blue or Silk Grey.

Twill can be stacked up to four chairs high, making it a practical seating option for many environments.
