Plateau acoustic panel by Dino Rossi for Impact Acoustic

Dezeen Showroom: Swiss acoustic solution brand Impact Acoustic has created a modular series of geometrically-shaped acoustic panels that are made from recycled plastic bottles.

Plateau combines computer-generated technology with ceiling tiles that come in both hexagonal and irregular shapes.

Plateau acoustic panels come in a range of sizes and shapes

The panel's modular nature means that each installation is bespoke, with this process being regulated by Impact Acoustic's in-house design tool, which factors in spatial confines to calculate the best configuration of the tiles.

"Inspired by self-organising natural systems, we developed an in-house design tool that integrates a physics engine and an evolutionary solver to generate designs," said Impact Acoustic's head of computational design Dino Rossi. "Each result is a unique, optimised solution adapted to a particular space."

The tiles are available in 32 colours

The installation process is made simple by the option to utilise custom mounting hardware. The panels can also be specified with a centrally-placed LED light to combine sound-dampening properties with an additional light source.

Plateau is available in 32 colours to suit a range of interior schemes.
