Dezeen Showroom: Spanish outdoor furniture brand Diabla has created a multifunctional piece of outdoor furniture that aims to elegantly reimagine inflatable seating.

Cacao consists of an inflatable leilo-style mattress that can be used on its own as well as a sturdy aluminium frame. The piece becomes a daybed when the two items are used in tandem.

The frame is made from lightweight thermo-lacquered aluminium, allowing the piece to be easily moved between poolside and beach locations as well as dismantled and stored during colder months.

The white mattress can be inflated and deflated when required and has an in-built raised pillow for the comfort of the user.

The mattress' segmented finish reminded the designers of the segmented appearance of a chocolate bar, hence the piece's name Cacao.

"We wanted to experiment with inflatables for the outdoors from another, more sophisticated point of view," said the brand.

The mattress comes in white PVC as standard, however the frame is available in seven bright and neutral colours including red, white, beige and pink.
