Dezeen Showroom: French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte has designed a sleek dining chair for Parla with a tubular metal frame that casts graphic shadows onto its surroundings.

The Palm X chair features an elegant silhouette with slanted back legs and a generously curved backrest, which can be left exposed or upholstered for extra comfort.

"Palm design creates an interplay between light and shadow, accompanied by the sleek lines of the chairs, and gives rhythm to the surrounding space," Parla said.

"Light marks the structure and stretches the shadows cast on the ground."

Palm X forms part of the larger Palm collection, which also includes the Palm A chair, Comfort A bar stool and armchair, also available in sturdy outdoor versions to bridge the divide between indoor and exterior spaces.

Its metal frame can be powder-coated in a range of different colours – black, white, kraft, green olive, deep blue, bordeaux and carbon grey.
