Competition: win a Cauny watch designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Rafael Moneo

For our latest competition, we've teamed up with century-old brand Cauny to offer readers the chance to win one of its watches designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo.

This competition is now closed.

By entering our latest competition, two lucky Dezeen readers will win a Cauny watch in Moneo Black or Moneo White Silver.

The Moneo watch is the second in the brand's The Architects of Time Series – a collection of watches it says is designed by "some of the greatest architects of our time". The first watch was designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Álvaro Siza.

Moneo created the watch to reference his design of the Atocha Station Clock in Madrid, Spain, which shares its square shape and proportions.

Both the clock and the watch feature tall and thin Roman numerals "that evoke the ancient sundials and strongly mark the dial", according to Moneo. To achieve the "perfect square" Moneo chose to design a system that links the bracelet inside the watch, according to Cauny.

"Working with millimetres and tenths of a millimetre, accustomed to thinking in terms of centimetres and metres, has been a disciplined exercise in which the presence of the texture of the materials was not alien, always making itself felt on our wrist," said Moneo.

"However, it was no surprise to see, time and again, that the sense of proportion has always been present and makes one think that both the clock and the watch came from the same hand."

Cauny was founded in Switzerland in 1927 and is headquartered in Portugal. It launched The Architects of Time Series in 2022.

"The Architects of Time Series also aspires to be a tribute to the mastery of those who have always worked with time as an element of design; making time, for once, the literal matter of the project," said the brand.

"By wearing these wristwatches, we wish to deepen our relationship with the perspective of each of our exceptional authors, through the paradox of embodying artistic timelessness in a timepiece."

Moneo designed the Prado Museum enlargement, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Moderna Museet, The Merida's Roman Art Museum and the Los Angeles Cathedral, among many other works.
