Ferrari unveils supercar-informed laptop that "transcends traditional boundaries of PC design"

Car brand Ferrari and technology company HP have collaborated to design a laptop informed by the aesthetics and engineering of supercars.

Named the HP Limited Edition Scuderia Ferrari AI PC, the laptop is the first product created as part of the ongoing partnerships between the two brands – HP became Ferrari's technology partner in 2024, with its Formula One team now called Scuderia Ferrari HP.

The laptop, which is Rosso Magma red and has a cutout on its base to show the components within, was created by the design teams of both brands.

"This notebook is a true reflection of how Ferrari and HP set a cutting-edge manufacturing technology, where advanced material engineering and craftsmanship converge into a unique, uncompromising expression of performance, precision, innovation and refined design," said Flavio Manzoni, Chief Design Officer, Ferrari.

The laptop's aesthetic was informed by Ferrari cars, including the Daytona SP3 and the F76 digital hypercar.

A cut-out on its base was designed to evoke the transparent engine covers that allow the engines to be seen at the rear of many Ferraris.

The rest of the base was made from carbon fibre, while the case was manufactured from CNC-milled aluminium that was zirconium-bead-blasted to give it a matt finish.

Given that this was the first product in the partnership, the brands chose to make the laptop red – Ferrari's signature colour.

Out of the numerous reds used by the brand, it picked Rosso Magma as it "evokes the primal energy of molten lava".

While the case evokes the form of a Ferrari, the keyboard area was designed to replicate Ferrari's "eyes on the road, hands on the wheel" philosophy.

Driven by its ideal of functional minimalism, the haptic trackpad is entirely hidden under a piece of glass. A light bar extends the length of the pad to indicate where it is located.

The laptop, which will be available in a limited edition of 4,999, contains a 3K Tandem OLED+ touch display, Intel Core Ultra X7 processor 358H and Intel Arc B390 graphics. It will be packaged in a presentation box designed by Poltrona Frau.

HP hopes that the collaboration has pushed the boundaries of standard laptop design.

"We are excited to work with Ferrari to create a product that transcends traditional boundaries of PC design," said HP senior vice president of design and sustainability Stacy Wolff.

"The HP Limited Edition Scuderia Ferrari is a testament to what can be achieved when two industry leaders combine their expertise delivering an extraordinary user experience that is as capable as it is beautiful. This is HP at its best: built for your best work, in style."

The announcement follows the reveal of Ferrari's first electric car, the Ferrari Luce last month.
