Dezeen Showroom: Finnish brand Aisti has created Aisti Aalto, a bio-based acoustic ceiling tile manufactured from renewable wood fibre.

Developed as a sustainable alternative to conventional acoustic materials, Aisti Aalto tiles are composed of a wood fibre mixture that is aerated before being dried using foam-forming technology.

The result is a fire-resistant, recyclable and cost-efficient tile that comes available in a single white finish.

"Making Aisti tiles is almost like baking a cake," said Aisti. "A few carefully chosen ingredients are mixed and aerated into a light, structured foam where fibres bond naturally without plastics."

"The material is then formed, dried and refined into a finished tile that is fire-safe and clean for indoor air," the brand continued.

The 60 by 60 centimetre tiles are designed to fit standard ceiling systems, allowing easy installation in a range of interiors.
