Dezeen Showroom: British studio Foster + Partners has designed an office chair for Japanese furniture brand Okamura, which features a simple silhouette that prioritises comfort.

Named Muku, the chair was created to suit a range of settings, including office, commercial and home settings, and aims to support sitters with an easily adjustable seat depth and recline angle.

Available in light grey, dark grey, red and black, Muku features layered-cushion lumbar support and armrests that come in adjustable and fixed options.

The chair's structure is partly made from recycled aluminium, and mesh fabric upholstery in the backrest and seat was made from recycled fishing nets.

"Rooted in visual simplicity and controlled geometry, the design responds effortlessly to different contexts and user needs while maintaining a consistent identity," said Okamura.

"Through its adaptability in materials, finishes, and configurations, Muku works equally well as a standalone piece or as part of a larger system, maintaining a consistent and quiet visual language while responding to the character and requirements of different settings."
