Toy company Hasbro has announced a line of Play-Doh products for adults with the release of Blooms, a flower-making kit for creating "lifelike flowers" that can be coated with a finishing spray for preservation.
The Blooms kits contain tools such as rollers to press patterns into the Play-Doh, a hand-press to make moulds, and a vase for arrangement.
The company says the launch marks "the brand's entry into the adult crafting and home decor space".
"The Play-Doh brand has always been about the limitless possibilities of imagination," said Play-Doh senior vice president Brian Baker. "That feeling doesn't fade as you grow up, it evolves."
"Blooms by Play-Doh serves that need, offering a more elevated, hands-on way to slow down, get lost in the process and create something beautiful you can enjoy long after you've made it."
The kits, which feature a range of floral arrangements resembling a meadow bouquet to a handful of roses, also come with other flower elements such as plastic leaves and stems.
The majority of the flowers are handcrafted from a variety of colourful flower-scented Play-Doh tubes included in the kit.
After a flower has dried, users can then preserve the creation "for months" with a finishing spray included in the kit.
The company says the launch comes "as more adults seek hands-on creative outlets to unwind and disconnect".
"Hasbro's research across more than 10,000 adults globally found that roughly one in seven adults turns to arts and crafts for stress relief, while nearly 80 per cent of Gen Z and Millennials report feeling burned out," said the company.
Lego launched a flower-making kit for adults five years ago on similar pretences, while Mattel released action figures designed by the late Virgil Abloh around the same time as a continuing trend of nostalgic games and toys popping up in contemporary culture.
