Promotion: subtly reflective silver-grey glass and tactile physical controls characterise Fisher & Paykel's Contemporary Style kitchen appliances, designed with versatility for the social heart of the home.
The Contemporary appliances are one of three product design styles in the New Zealand company's luxury range, alongside the Minimal and Professional offerings.

Fisher & Paykel explained that each of its curated styles supports architects, designers and homeowners in creating bespoke kitchens with a cohesive aesthetic.

"The advantage is a consistent design language across the appliance collection, from cooking and cooling to wine care and dishwashing," said the brand.

Fisher & Paykel's Contemporary Style includes flush-fitting ovens and cooktops as well as an expansive ecosystem of complementary appliances, all with the same focus on clean lines, softly silver surfaces and comfortable interaction.

Its aesthetic contrasts with the Minimal Style, where dark colours and dial- and handle-free designs allow the products to recede into the background.

Together, the style families are intended to enable the creation of bespoke spaces befitting the evolving role of the domestic kitchen.
Fisher & Paykel explained that once hidden from view, kitchens are now one of the main social spaces in the home.

They attract a constant thrum of activity as families join in meal preparation, guests hover and chat, and daily rituals are tended to.

Within this context, the brand's style families bring the "beauty of choice" to architects, designers and homeowners in the luxury market, letting them pick products for both their function and cohesion with a material palette.

For the Contemporary range, Fisher & Paykel focused on a timeless appearance, with clean lines and tonal contrasts. Knowledge of interaction and how people experience the space was also taken into consideration.

The brushed silver glass on the ovens has an "active relationship with its surroundings", said the company, picking up on the tones of surrounding materials like stone and timber and gently shifting its appearance as the light changes throughout the day.

"The silver-grey glass finish was designed to create depth and subtle reflectivity within the kitchen," said Fisher & Paykel head of industrial design (cooking) Adam Moody.

"As light changes throughout the day, the products reveal different qualities and relationships with surrounding materials."

The Contemporary range is intended to complement both light and dark interiors, either adding contrast and depth through reflectivity
in darker spaces, or reading softly against pale cabinetry, tile and stone.

"With Contemporary Style, we wanted to create a refined material presence: expressive enough to add depth and character to the kitchen, but restrained enough to work across a wide range of architectural interiors," added Moody.

Fisher & Paykel marries these finishes with precisely machined dials, round bar handles that sit comfortably in the hand and carefully calibrated door movement, emphasising tactility.

This is complemented with intuitive touchscreens and SmartHQ app connectivity for detailed and remote control.

The Contemporary line includes steam, convection and combination ovens as well as companion products such as vacuum seal drawers and warming drawers.

Gas or induction hobs are also available, with stainless steel or black glass finishes. Refrigerators, wine cabinets, range cookers, cooker hoods and dishwashers complete the offering.

The Contemporary Style products are designed for flush-fit installation and sit precisely within cabinetry, with only fine gaps as small as two millimetres. There are 60- and 76-centimetre formats to suit different layouts.
