Laminex Colour Collection 2027

Laminex celebrates Australian heritage with nature-informed colour collection

Promotion: Australian surface brand Laminex has launched a collection of sandy, warm-toned surface colours and woodgrains drawing upon natural landscapes in Australia.

Laminex has created surfaces, colours, woodgrains and finishes for the modern home since it was established over 90 years ago, adapting to the evolving architecture and interior trends.

Founded by designer Bob Sykes in Melbourne in 1934, the brand strives to provide high-quality design to its Australian audience through its architectural and furniture surfaces.

"As Australian architecture and interiors have evolved, so too has the way colour and surface are used," said Laminex.

"What was once largely considered through a functional lens has become an increasingly expressive part of an interior, with colour, grain, texture and finish considered alongside timber, stone and other materials to help shape the character of a space."

The latest evolution in the brand is its new Laminex Colour Collection 2027, specially designed to appeal to local customers.

Informed by the hues found in Australia's vast landscapes, the new Laminex collection includes four Australian Native Woodgrains and six solid colours ranging from sandy neutrals to a rich red ochre.

The collection was inspired by the warm tones of Australia's landscapes

"Ten new decors take their cues from landscapes that stretch from the Victorian High Country to the Nullarbor, the Red Centre and the native hardwood forests of Australia's east coast," said Laminex.

"Cooler alpine tones sit alongside sun-warmed neutrals, pink-toned browns and deeper earth hues, while the woodgrains introduce pattern, warmth and the character of Australian timber," it continued.

"Together, they capture something of the extraordinary tonal variation of the Australian landscape without attempting to reproduce it literally."

The surfaces can be combined in interiors to create low-contrast, calming spaces or high-contrast, impactful spaces

The colours and woodgrains were designed to complement each other when applied to cabinetry, joinery, furniture and larger architectural surfaces in interior projects.

Similarly hued surfaces can be combined to create calming colour palettes, or contrasting tones can be used together for a richer, more impactful aesthetic.

Laminex said that the intense Australian sunlight also brings out different tones in the surfaces, revealing different perspectives as people move around a space.

"Australian light brings another dimension," it explained. "Its particular intensity can reveal undertones, amplify warmer hues and alter the relationship between colour and grain throughout the day."
