Shortlisted for Dezeen Awards China 2023 emerging designer of the year, research-oriented product design studio, MMR Studio.

Founded in 2021 in Shanghai by architect Zhongyu Zhang, MMR regards product design as the construction of an urban park that stores private and public memories. MMR stands for “Materials, Modality, Routine”, it aims to explore the cultural traces in the process of urban transformation, and translate the texture and emotion from the ordinary into the material .

Recent projects include Slice System metal furniture and Skin of Air Chair.

This studio has been shortlisted in the emerging designer of the year category of Dezeen Awards China 2023.
