Aluminium and renewable energy company Hydro returns to Milan design week with its R100 exhibition, spotlighting five new design pieces – from furniture to home decor.
The projects – made from the brand's 100 per cent post-consumer aluminium – were made by designers Daniel Rybakken, Stefan Diez, Sabine Marcelis, Keiji Takeuchi and Cecilie Manz.
The exhibition name refers to a 100km radius, as activities in the project – such as sourcing materials and manufacturing – happened within a 100-kilometre-radius in the Netherlands.
Used materials include aluminium scrap from demolished greenhouses and decommissioned light poles.
Hydro claims that by sourcing local materials, it has reduced the transportation emissions of the project by 90 per cent compared to last year.
Hydro's R100 exhibition takes place from 7 to 13 April 2025 at Capsule Plaza, Spazio Maiocchi, Via Achille Maiocchi 7, 20129 Milan, Italy.
