The Interaction Design Programme (IDP) at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) offers an intensive, year-long education to the next generation of interaction designers.

With a cohort of up to 24 students from diverse backgrounds, the programme blends hands-on learning with a life-centred approach.

Taught by visiting practitioners in design and technology, the curriculum spans tangible and digital interfaces, service design, AI and immersive experiences.

With a focus on rapid prototyping and real-world problem-solving, students develop concepts for physical and screen-based interactions while honing their collaboration and communication skills. Industry partnerships provide practical challenges, allowing students to expand their professional networks.

The international and cross-disciplinary nature of the studio fosters peer-to-peer learning and participants come from diverse backgrounds, including design, art, architecture, science, humanities and business.

The IDP, which has welcomed students from over 45 countries since its launch in 2008, is open to both professionals taking a break from their careers and recent university graduates looking to deepen their skills and expand their perspectives.

Graduates emerge as skilled designers, ready to create impactful solutions that address social and environmental challenges. Supported by CIID's extensive network, alumni have established successful careers worldwide as interaction designers, UX/UI designers, creative technologists and design researchers.
