Competition overview
Nothing Technology has launched The Community Edition Project competition, which seeks four winners to collaborate with in the development of the ultimate version of its Nothing Phone (3a).
The competition is open to international creatives with a knowledge of hardware design, software design or creative campaigns.
The Community Edition Project competition has four briefs that participants can enter: hardware design, software design, accessory design and marketing.
The hardware design brief focuses on imagining a new look for the phone, including its colour, material, finish and packaging, while the software design brief concentrates on software design elements that create a unique on-screen experience, such as widgets, wallpapers and clock faces.
The accessory design brief entails developing an exclusive accessory or collectible product to accompany the phone while the marketing brief involves creating a creative proposal for the launch of the phone.
A winner will be picked from each brief and the project will conclude with a launch event of the Phone (3a) Community Edition later this year.
Eligibility and judging criteria
The competition is open to individuals over the age of 18.
Submissions will be judged on how well-researched and presented the idea is as well as how strong its theme is.
Due to legal restrictions, the brand is unable to accept designs from Sudan, North Korea, Syria, Iran, Cuba, the Crimea region, or any other countries/regions which may be subject to export controls and/or sanctions at the time of the competition.
How to enter
Participants are to choose one of the four briefs that best suits their skills. Proposals need to present their references, moodboards, design process and final concept.
If AI was used, participants are required to inform the company of where it has been used.
Submission deadlines
The closing date for submissions is 23 April 2025.
