Drop-Stop Pavilion
Aptdotapt has designed the Drop-Stop Pavilion, designed to connect visitors with nature through a sublime and poetic interplay of water, light and geometry in Wenzhou, China.
Drawing inspiration from the raindrops formed between the tiles of traditional East architecture, Drop-Stop reimagines the spatial role of eaves and creates a conversation with the region's cascading waterfalls.
The pavilion features a "raindrop apparatus" made of transparent glass tiles and charred woods, creating a poetic interaction between water, light and shadow.
The pavilion's triangular form, mirrored stainless-steel elements and varying window proportions establish a dialogue between nature, the self and geometry.
On rainy days, visitors can touch the falling water, listen to the soothing sounds and experience a moment of suspended time, where architecture and the natural world merge.
This project has been shortlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
