Winner: Landscape and urban design of the year 2025. Air-CoLab Studio and HDEC have designed Ring of Starlight, an amphitheatre in Chengdu, China.
The project is located on the island at the centre of the lake in Xuanwo Park, Tianfu New Area, Chengdu, surrounded by commercial and residential land on three sides, with water forming a natural barrier.

Nestled at the core of the Luxelakes Phase III landscape lake system, the amphitheatre is the visual focus of the entire area.

"We made full use of the characteristics of the site, expanded the scope of the design, and emphasised the sequence and rhythm of the overall space," said Air-CoLab Studio.

The circular building, with a diameter of 25 metres, uses a cantilevered structure and a white cast-in-place concrete skin, creating a light, floating sensation.

In addition, the waterborne cantilevered bridge extends to the open-air theatre, with the stage level with the water surface, blending into the environment like a lotus leaf.
