The Luxury Business course at Sotheby's Institute of Art teaches students to analyse luxury markets and develop innovative business concepts.

Set in one of the world's luxury capitals, New York City, USA, this immersive four-week course explores historic and contemporary frameworks of how luxury is defined, marketed and consumed and what the future holds for the luxury business sector.

Students will examine the rise of digital luxury, the increasing importance of sustainability and responsible business frameworks for luxury brands.

Our urban campus puts students in the centre of the New York City luxury market, allowing them to learn through behind-the-scenes access to luxury brands, marketing executives, real estate strategists and branding experts.

From real estate to fashion and art, students will develop a strong understanding of the global luxury market and prepare to make their mark on its future.

What will I learn during this course?

– Participate in projects and develop the skills to analyse markets, craft brand narratives and understand the economics of luxury
– Analytical and practical skills
– Develop a draft business plan for a new or existing luxury venture

What are the requirements?

– All applicants must be at least 18 years old by the beginning of the programme
– Currently enrolled in, or considering enrolling in, an undergraduate university programme
– A minimum 2.5 GPA or equivalent
– An unofficial copy of most current university transcript
– A short personal statement detailing interest in the programme
– Non-native English speakers: a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, TOEFL score of 85 IBT, CEFR score of B2 or a Duolingo score of 120
