Call It a Day lighting by Tongqi Lu Design
Dezeen Showroom: intuitive gestures rather than switches control lights in the Call It a Day collection, designed by Shanghai-based studio Tongqi Lu Design.
The Call It a Day collection features a table lamp, floor lamp and pendant lamp, all featuring translucent, touch-inviting silicone shades.

The lighting collection is designed without switches and instead invites users to turn the lamps off and on via easily surmised gestures, such as a bop or a tug.
Designer Tongqi Lu paints a picture of the lighting collection as providing a soft, slow and comforting retreat at the end of a long, demanding day.

"I drop onto the sofa, reach out, and press, pull, tap – without intention," she said. "The light turns on, not because I followed a rule, but because I didn't."
"The silicone surface shifts under my hand, stretching, relaxing, losing its shape. Like everything else. Nothing needs to be correct here. Nothing needs to be finished. Just small, careless movements – and a soft light that stays with me while I do nothing."
