Entries open for The Brick in Architecture Awards 2026
Promotion: entries are now open for this year's edition of the Brick in Architecture Awards, which recognises the best brick buildings from the US and beyond.
The annual award, which is accepting entries until 25 September, was established by the Brick Industry Association in 1989 to highlight architecture projects that "push the boundaries of design" while also showcasing the possibilities of brick.
"The awards honour projects that demonstrate exceptional creativity, craftsmanship, innovation, and thoughtful use of clay brick across a variety of building types," the award said.
Projects can be entered across nine categories, namely Thin Brick, International, Residential Single Family, Commercial, Residential Multi-Family, Education (Colleges and Universities), Education (K-12), Paving and Landscaping, and Historic Renovation.

While most categories cater to US-based projects, the International category opens up the award to projects from around the world. Within each category, projects compete for Bronze, Silver, Gold and Best in Class awards.
Additionally, one project is awarded the Craftsmanship Award, providing recognition to an individual mason or team of masons for their skilful work.
The award also provides architects with the opportunity to have their work recognised by industry peers on a regional scale.
Winners of last year's awards include The Myers Hall Switchgear building at Drexel University by architecture studio Moto Designshop, which won the Best in Class award for the Education (Colleges and Universities) category.

Also in 2025, 64 University Place, an 11-storey residential block by architecture studio KPF, was awarded the Craftsmanship Award for its decorative masonry arches by SNG Brick & Stone.
Last year's awards saw 42 winners named from 120 entries, which were judged by an international jury of industry professionals spanning the US, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia and South Africa.
"The winners demonstrate why brick matters as a sustainable building material offering exceptional durability, fire resistance, energy efficiency and the ability to achieve any aesthetic," Brick Industry Association CEO Tricia Mauer said regarding the 2025 awards.

Awards will be given to the 2026 winners on April 8 2027, at the Brick Excellence Gala during the National Clay Brick Expo in Nashville, Tennessee.
The gala brings together more than 300 industry practitioners, including architects, manufacturers, and designers.
Entries to The Brick in Architecture Awards can be submitted via its website until 25 September 2026.
