Competition overview

LAMP 2026 is the eleventh edition of the international lighting design competition. It calls for new lighting design across two main categories, professional and student, spanning four subcategories: floor, table, pendant and sconce.

Entrants can also highlight their design for eight additional distinctions, including portable or rechargeable, outdoor, acoustic, smart or app-connected, solar, sustainable, handmade or craft, and sculptural.

This year's panel includes Alcova co-founders Valentina Ciuffi and Joseph Grima, who, alongside the LAMP jury will curate a selection of entries to present at the inaugural Alcova Mexico City during Mexico City art week in February 2027.

Information on how to enter can be found on the competition's website.

Winners will be announced between 10 and 15 December 2026

Eligibility and judging criteria

The competition is open globally to individuals and teams.

The professional category is open to designers, artists, industrial designers and architects whose designs have not launched before 2023.

The student category is open to anyone enrolled in a post-secondary design or arts programme during the 2025 to 2026 or 2026 to 2027 academic years.

Entries are judged blind based on concept, with sketches, renderings and prototypes accepted.

The proposals will be judged on:

  • Aesthetics: how contemporary, visually appealing and marketable the design is
  • Function: the practicality of the design's intended use
