Caisse d'Epargne Bourgogne Franche Comté Headquarters by GRAAM ARCHITECTURE
Nicolas Waltefaugle

Graam Architecture has created an office headquarters for a bank in eastern France, which harnesses local materials to meet energy consumption needs.

The project is located at the heights of Dijon in Burgundy. Built on seven levels, its wooden structure echoes the local resources of the region, while the ground floor is paved with Burgundy stone. The work was carried out by companies originating from Burgundy in order to continue the development of regional resources and knowledge.

The building is airtight and highly insulated in response to a high requirement for future energy consumption. It is designed with a wooden structural skeleton, prefabricated concrete floors, and an exo-wooden structure covered with a glass double skin.

It is a 100 per cent dry process built to a high thermal standard, with the implementation of smart building certification R2S. Inside the materials used in the light-filled office spaces are all classified A+ in terms of VOC emissions, and are combined with a ventilation system for high indoor air quality.

This project has been shortlisted in the business building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
