Michaela Ekstrom Architettura has built Stonehouse in Fiano Romano, Italy.
This project sought to address the issue of small-scale contemporary living space in relation to the sensitivity of the human body.
"Faced with an extremely small surface, the strategy was to work with space and with the theme of looking and being looked at, contemplating as a creative act," said Michaela Esktrom Architettura.
A double-height space, mezzanine, glazed patio, closed terrace with an open window at sunset, an outdoor fireplace and a corner swimming pool are all elements related to generating a continuous change of scenario.
"The common thread is the material. Always and only travertine, as an obsession," added Michaela Ekstrom Architettura.
