Yiyuan Bai has designed Sole, an innovative herbal biomaterial fusing of healing and sustainable materials.
Yiyuan Bai has created bioproducts such as gloves and packaging derived from aromatic herbs, including Pogostemon Cablin and Herba Eupatorii.
According to the antifungal characteristics of herbal medicines and the innovative herbal biomaterials she developed, they have an effect on curing Tinea Manuum, a dermatophyte infection of one or both hands.
As a result, this project demonstrates remarkable originality by transforming Chinese herbal medicines from two-dimensional applications into three-dimensional wearable biomaterials.
This project has been shortlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
