Suzao Architects has designed Chu's Orange Manor Living Center, a residential project centred on ecological design in Yuxi, China.
Suzao's latest project, the Chu's Orange Manor Living Center, stands as a landmark integration of site identity and ecological harmony.
Through an innovative elevated structural system and climate-responsive design strategies, the building fosters a symbiotic relationship with the native trees and sloped terrain at the foot of Yunnan's Ailao Mountains.
As a result, this project places strong emphasis on ecological sensitivity, lightly inserting the architecture within the forested slope.
As a spiritual vessel of Chu's Agriculture, the Living Center embodies a design philosophy of "coexistence with trees", preserving the site's native vegetation in its entirety.
This project has been shortlisted in the residential project category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
