Competition overview
The Model Young Package competition is a two-round international contest where talented designers submit their packaging ideas on selected themes.
This year, the theme is Unpacking Taboo, dedicated to functional, respectful and socially aware packaging ideas.
An expert jury, consisting of company representatives, will judge submissions from the first round of the competition named the Open Contest.
The best proposals during the first phase will be awarded and also succeed to the second, closed round – the Professional Challenge, where designers will be asked to create a new packaging concept based on a real client's brief, competing with selected professional designers.
The winners of both rounds will be awarded at an annual award ceremony, where they'll meet packaging professionals and be awarded on stage.
Eligibility and judging criteria
Anyone aged 15 or over is eligible to apply.
The prototypes will be judged by their:
- Functionality
- Ideas behind the concept
- How visual they are
- manufacturability
- Sustainability
- Material efficiency
The jury will include individuals with expertise in industrial design, the corporate sector and packaging.
How to enter
Applicants need to submit an existing packaging prototype, in addition to filling out an online registration form and uploading a promotional PDF including photos, description and structural blueprint.

Applicants should register by 31 March.
Winners will be announced in October or November of this year.
