The BA (Hons) Fashion Design course at Sheffield Hallam University is an exciting and dynamic programme that focuses on preparing students for a career in the constantly evolving fashion industry.

The course is designed to provide students with a set of applied skills and design acumen that will enable them to succeed in this highly competitive field.

At the heart of the course is the studio, which serves as a collaborative and creative space for students to explore traditional and progressive Neo-Crafts across 2D and 3D enquiries.

Students will have access to a range of specialist equipment and be encouraged to engage in critical enquiry, community building, and building confidence.

The curriculum is research-led and contextual, with opportunities for students to visit design studios, factories, archives, and exhibitions. This will help develop a deeper understanding of the fashion industry and its broader cultural and historical contexts.

The course places a strong emphasis on environmental and ethical issues, and students are encouraged to remain curious, open-minded and accountable.

Through applied and enhanced projects, students will gain awareness of a range of fashion careers and will have the opportunity to experience real-world practices.

In addition to the core course, students have the option to transfer to a specialist route, Digital Fashion Design, towards the end of level 5. This route is designed for students interested in exploring the intersection between fashion and technology, and will enable them to develop a range of digital design skills through focused project work.
