The MA Design is a one-year interdisciplinary programme of seven design disciplines promoting social and cultural innovation: Fashion, Graphics, Illustration, Interior, Interaction, Packaging, and Product.

The programme challenges students’ understanding of contemporary practice while supporting them to devise ways to improve society, developing their specialist skills and knowledge in a collaborative studio environment.

It prepares them to collaborate effectively with practitioners from other disciplines and supports their professional aspirations.

The MA design programme's modules equip students to lead their chosen design discipline, employing creativity, research and critical inquiry to identify and develop significant and original design concepts.

The initial MA modules are taught to all students across disciplines focusing on design thinking, theoretical studies, research methods and making practices.

In its subsequent modules, students follow their specialist MA award discipline routes, supported by key specialist staff, to develop their research and design practice agenda leading towards their final project.

Our students graduate with a refined skill set that enables them to work at the forefront of their creative discipline or support progression to doctoral studies.
