Graphic Design MA at Estonian Academy of the Arts

The Graphic Design MA course at Estonian Academy of the Arts requires students to produce graphic design work that reflects their own style and host collaborative exhibitions and workshops.

School: Estonian Academy of the Arts
Course: Graphic Design MA
Location: Tallinn, Estonia
Course dates: September 2024 to June 2026
Application deadline: 4 March 2024

The Graphic Design MA program at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) is intended to develop a student's practice and define their position as a graphic designer.

The programme takes an expanded view of graphic design, seeing it as a form of knowledge production whose role can be understood as a way of "making things public".

The programme provides opportunities for students to work through traditional models of graphic design, including books, websites, posters, typefaces and videos, and also to publish texts, organise exhibitions, host lectures, teach workshops, and create other contexts for exchange during their studies.

The interests and concerns of the student will be placed at the centre of studies through the making of a body of work which considers their relationship to form, content, production, and the distribution of information.

While this will identify itself differently for each student, what they will share in common is a form of practice which is self-reflective, process-oriented, collaborative, and one that consistently holds an honest position in response to the fluctuating conditions of work as a graphic designer.

EKA international programmes promotion is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

Applications to this course have now closed.
