School: ECAL University of Art and Design Lausanne
Course: Master of Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship
Location: Lausanne, Switzerland
Course dates: September 2023 to June 2024
Application deadline: 3 April 2023

Switzerland is a country with a vast knowledge of the field of luxury and craftsmanship.

Building on this tradition, this Master of Advanced Studies at ECAL is for the holders of a bachelor's or master's degree wishing to further their knowledge in industrial design and investigate sectors of excellence, including fine watchmaking, tableware and specific techniques using noble materials.

Students experiment at all stages of production with 3D rendered modelling, photography, workshops from international designers and collaborations with prestigious brands such as Audemars Piguet, Hermès, La Prairie and Ruinart.

Students also have the benefit of brand identity analyses and conferences delivered by experts in the field, as well as tours of luxury goods manufacturers.

Many projects are singled out by partner companies to be produced, exhibited and published in the international press.

After one year at ECAL, the students are able to submit a varied portfolio to the highest professional standards.

Highly sought after by international agencies and world-leading companies, students also often have the opportunity to simultaneously establish their own businesses.

Graduates are frequently offered internship opportunities at the end of their curriculum, often leading to steady employment.

Since the beginning of 2018, students from this programme have benefitted from a partnership with IMD Business School in Lausanne, a world leader in its field, which allows them to learn what is at stake when launching a brand and starting a business.

Applications to this course have now closed.
