Master in Advanced Urban Planning and Data Analytics
The Master in Advanced Urban Planning and Data Analytics course at IAAC supports students in developing architecture practices that incorporate spatial analysis and urban design skills.
School: IAAC
Course: Master in Advanced Urban Planning and Data Analytics
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Course dates: October 2025 to July 2026, extendable to a second year upon enrolment
Application deadline: 9 August 2025
The Master in Advanced Urban Planning and Data Analytics at IAAC explores how cities can be reimagined through designing with computational, ecological and collective intelligence. Based in Barcelona, the programme merges data science with spatial thinking to equip a new generation of urban planners, researchers and designers.
Offered in one or two-year formats, the Master in Advanced Urban Planning and Data Analytics builds on IAAC's learn-by-doing model. Students engage with real-world challenges – from mobility and housing to environmental justice – while developing critical, creative and technical skills. Coursework includes urban theory, AI for spatial analysis, participatory tools and regenerative urban design.
Design research studios and seminars provide a space to prototype ideas at multiple scales, integrating open data, emerging technologies and local knowledge. The programme encourages collaboration across disciplines and sectors, working alongside global experts, NGOs and public institutions.
Set in Barcelona, a known global leader for innovative urbanism, and World Capital of Architecture 2026, the programme also offers scholarships covering 30 per cent to 50 per cent of tuition fees to support future students.
Whether mapping urban vulnerabilities or proposing adaptive infrastructures, students are trained to act with precision and care.
