Master in AI for Architecture and the Built Environment at IAAC
The Master in AI for Architecture and the Built Environment course at IAAC prompts students to use AI in architecture to address contemporary design challenges.
School: IAAC and EADA Business School
Course: Master in AI for Architecture and the Built Environment
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Course dates: October 2025 to July 2026, extendable to a second year upon enrolment
Application deadline: 9 August 2025
The Master in AI for Architecture and the Built Environment at IAAC explores how artificial intelligence can reframe the way we design, build and regenerate the spaces we inhabit. Set in Barcelona, the programme offers a transdisciplinary and hands-on approach to machine learning, data science and design innovation – always grounded in the urgent realities of decarbonisation, biodiversity and equitable built environments.
The programme invites architects, designers, engineers and data scientists to work across scales and systems, from responsive building envelopes to urban-scale analytics and nature-based algorithms. Students prototype AI-powered solutions in fields such as urban tech, smart construction and ecological design, engaging with real-world industry challenges and speculative futures.
With close links to venture capital partners and leading research institutions, the Master in AI for Architecture and the Built Environment bridges technical training with entrepreneurial development. Through research studios, collaborative labs and business workshops, students learn to think critically and act decisively at the intersection of technology and architecture.
Taking place in Barcelona – World Capital of Architecture 2026 – the programme also offers scholarships covering 30 per cent to 50 per cent of tuition fees to support future students available on IAAC's website. At IAAC, AI is not treated as a trend, but as a language. Students learn to speak it fluently – through data, form, code and material –while staying rooted in the social and ecological urgencies that architecture must face.
