Culver City's art gallery Helms Design Centre hosts the Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture exhibition, exploring hip-hop culture and its influence on design and architecture.

The exhibition features installations and urban development projects by students, educators and specialists, that aim to present the fundamental principles of hip-hop, its process and aesthetics, and its contribution to a design revolution driven by identity.

It is coordinated by Sekou Cooke, an influential advocate of hip-hop architecture, and features a programme of talks and guided tours by SoCal NOMA,  A+D Museum and Helms Bakery District.

Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture takes place from 22 June to 17 September 2023 at Helms Design Centre, 8745 Washington Boulevard, Culver City, California 90232, USA.
