Unwoven Memories
European university IED Istituto Europeo di Design presents an exhibition at the 2025 edition of trade show Design Shanghai, titled Unwoven Memories.
Created by Thinh Truong, BA student in Motion Graphics, the exhibition features a woven tapestry created to reflect the binary codes of 260 objects found in Colonia Güel, a town in Catalonia.
The codes were generated by answering binary questions about each object, with the answers represented by a “0” or “1”.
Alongside the tapestry, the exhibition incorporates projected visuals and audio.
The project won the Francesco Morelli Foundation Grant in 2023 and the digital category of the LAUS Award in 2024.
Unwoven Memories takes place from 4 to 7 June 2025 at Design Shanghai, Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, 1099 Guozhan Road, Pudong, Shanghai, China.
