BY SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY, YOU CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH DEZEEN AND HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THEM.

2. The competition

2.1 Dezeen has partnered with Villeroy & Boch AG (hereafter "Villeroy & Boch") and Ideal Standard International NV (hereafter "Ideal Standard") to run the Shaping Water Competition (the "Competition"), which seeks ideas for a large-scale installation for St John's Gate, a prominent historic location in the heart of Clerkenwell, London, during Clerkenwell Design Week. Entrants are asked to draw from the functional and aesthetic qualities of water to create an installation that celebrates the dynamic nature of water and the transformative effect it can have on wellbeing.

3. How to enter

3.1 The competition will run from 10:00 GMT on 17 February 2025 (the "Opening Date") to midnight BST (British Summer Time) on 2 April 2025 (the "Closing Date") inclusive.

3.2 All competition entries must be received by Dezeen by no later than 23:59 BST on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically void. The acceptance of any entry (whenever received) is at Dezeen’s sole discretion.

3.3 Enter the competition online by submitting via the online entry form available at www.dezeen.com/shaping-water-competition by the Closing Date. No other method of submitting entries will be permitted.

3.4 Dezeen will not accept responsibility for competition entries that are incorrectly submitted regardless of cause, including, without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.

3.5 Dezeen's decision as to whether an entrant (or their entry) is eligible for this competition is final and we are not obliged to provide any reasons for disqualification.

3.6 By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any of the terms and conditions, do not take part.

4. Jury

4.1 Entries will be judged by a jury of Villeroy & Boch, Ideal Standard and Dezeen representatives, each of which will be selected by Dezeen at its sole discretion.

4.2 The decision of the jury will be final.

4.3 Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Design: How well does the entry answer the brief to celebrate the dynamic nature of water and the transformative impact it can have on wellbeing?
  • Impact: How successful is it as an installation for the public realm and how well does it respond to the historic site?
  • Feasibility: How realistic is it to construct for the budget?
  • Sustainability: How does the design reduce or eliminate environmental damage?
