Dezeen Showroom: built with screen users in mind, Japanese office brand Kokuyo has created the ingCloud task chair, featuring an innovative self-adjusting mechanism and cocooning mesh backrest.
Designed in-house by Yojiro Kinoshita and Ryoma Maeda, the ingCloud chair centres a gravity-based glide mechanism that lets the seat, backrest and armrests respond together to the sitter’s slightest movement.

This lets them shift position naturally throughout the day, while the 3D Hammock Mesh wraps around them, creating a unique floating sensation and providing three dimensional support that eases pressure.
According to Kokuyo, the development of ingCloud was driven by the belief that true wellbeing comes not from achieving the perfect posture but enabling continuous movement through a chair that felt like an intuitive extension of the body.

“To achieve this seamless integration, the team focused on an unprecedented level of comfort that supports heavy screen users in maintaining natural alignment and sustained focus,” said Kokuyo.
“Through an extensive process of fine-tuning tension by the millimetre, they developed the revolutionary 3D Ultra-Auto Fit Mechanism. Operating like a roly-poly toy, the gliding system responds effortlessly to every micro-movement without breaking your creative flow.”
A 2026 Red Dot winner, the ingCloud chair is said to be compatible with a diversity of body types.
