Outdoor Woven Collection by Abril Zepeda for MasayaCo
Dezeen Showroom: furniture brand MasayaCo‘s handcrafted rocking and lounge chairs, made from solid teak and woven cord, are now available for use outdoors.
Handmade in Nicaragua, the Arenal Outdoor Rocking Chair and the Masaya Outdoor Lounge Chair are part of the Outdoor Woven Collection, conceived by MasayaCo‘s designer and cofounder Abril Zepeda.
Each piece of furniture comprises a sealed, FSC-certified solid teak frame, taken from trees grown on reforested land that MasayaCo owns and operates in Nicaragua.
Zepeda’s distinctly colourful patterns, drawn from the Nicaraguan craft traditions she was surrounded by growing up, wrap each piece in the collection.
Local artisans weave each seat by hand directly onto a sleek teak frame, giving the pieces a contemporary finish.
The woven seats come in various patterned and single-colour finishes.
“I try to always design from a wide perspective: how we live, what we need and what makes us feel at ease in our homes,” said Zepeda.
