
An exhibition of furniture by designers Kranen/Gille of Heusden in the Netherlands is on show at Gallery Fumi in London.

The collection includes wing chairs with leather cushions tied to sheet-steel frames (above), occasional tables with marble tops and cast iron bases, and a cabinet named after the monster in Fritz Lang’s film Metropolis (below).

Based in the south of the Netherlands, the pair try to use two main materials in every piece.

THIS NOVEMBER GALLERY FUMI WILL BE SHOWING KRANEN/GILLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE UK. THE COLLECTION WILL INCLUDE OCCASIONAL TABLES, FLOOR LAMPS, WINE RACKS, THE ‘FREDERSEN’ WINGCHAIR AND THE BRAND NEW ‘MOLOCH’ DRINKS CABINET WHICH IS CRAFTED FROM NUTWOOD AND NICKEL PLATED STEEL.

THE EXHIBITION WILL RUN FROM 20 NOVEMBER TO 23 DECEMBER 2009

The moment I saw these products I knew that real craftsmanship and the use of cold and warm materials do go together!In 1 word STUNNING!Well done guys

Nice craftsmanship and materials but WOW, these forms do not work AT ALL in my opinion.

Cold, but enticing. Really like the combo of materials.
Will def have to pop into Fumi and have a look.
