Moving on to our top five Dezeen stories from September 2009, this shoe with no foot plate by London architect Julian Hakes, called the Mojito Shoe, was at number one.

Office for Metropolitan Architecture were at number two with The Interlace, a residential project for Singapore comprising long low apartment blocks stacked in hexagonal configurations.

At number three was this timber-clad house called House Bierings in Utrecht, designed by Amsterdam architects Rocha Tombal.

Beijing office MAD deigned a convention centre with pleated surfaces for Taichung, Taiwan, which was our fourth most viewed story in September.

Architects ONG&ONG were in fifth position with their renovation of a terrace house in Singapore, called 55 Blair Road.
