Pedrali adds office chairs to Ester seating range
Dezeen promotion: Italian furniture manufacturer Pedrali announced the addition of office chairs to its Ester seating range by French designer Patrick Jouin in Milan last month.
The Ester Office range of contemporary office seating is the latest continuation of Pedrali's Ester collection, which earned the Good Design Award in 2013 for its armchair.
Launched at this year's Salone Internazionale del Mobile furniture fair in Milan, the new chairs feature a four-spoke base with castors and an adjustable seat.
The collection began with a beige leather armchair, which was created especially for chef Alain Ducasse's restaurant at The Dorchester hotel in London.
"Ester is the result of work carried out with passion combining manufacturing excellence and creative genius, attention to detail and functionality," said Giuseppe Pedrali, CEO of Pedrali. "It is greatly satisfying to see our armchair inside a Michelin starred restaurant."
Each chair features a polyurethane foam seat, with leather or fabric upholstery and legs finished in satin aluminium, brushed bronze or black nickel.
"The design of this armchair is the outcome of my experiences since I started designing restaurants," explained Jouin. "The result is a precious monolith made of leather, complemented by refined die-casted aluminium legs."
The Ester range is also on display at the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique on New York's Fifth Avenue, which was recently renovated using an Art Deco-inspired concept created by Jouin Manku Studio, the design company cofounded by Jouin.
Formed in 1963 as a family-owned business, Pedrali has produced a wide variety of tables, chairs and complements in its two Italian factories — often for public spaces, offices and homes.
