Pedrali presents indoor and outdoor seating collections designed by Patrick Jouin

Promotion: an outdoor seating system made from woven cord and a sculptural ash wood lounge armchair both designed by French designer Patrick Jouin are among the twelve new collections launched by Italian furniture brand Pedrali in Milan this year.

Called the Reva Cocoon and Héra Lounge the furniture designs were unveiled on Pedrali's 800-square-metre stand at the Salone del Mobile.

Made up of linear and corner sofa elements and chaise longues with backrests of two different heights, the Reva Cocoon is a flexible outdoor seating system made from colourful, weather-resistant polypropylene cord woven around an extruded aluminium frames.

The design is an evolution of the brand's existing Reva Twist sofa, which was introduced in 2020.

To enhance comfort and provide greater seating depth, the backrest of the Reva Cocoon has a double curvature that creates a feeling of envelopment.

The high backrests provide areas of privacy and a variation in the weave – which is thicker in the lower part and a looser at the top – was added to keep the design airy and bright.

The Héra lounge was designed by Jouin as a celebration of wood. Its refined, fluid form echoes the silhouette of the armchair of the same name that Jouin designed for Pedrali in 2019.

Made of ash wood sourced from certified forests, its curved solid wood backrest is joined to rectangular legs with radial angles.

Its polyurethane foam seat is supported by elastic belts to maximise comfort while the wooden elements of Héra lounge are finished with water-based coatings composed mostly of plant-derived resins.

Both pieces are designed for use in contract and residential environments.

This year marks Pedrali's 33rd participation in the annual Salone, which celebrated its 60th edition this year.

For the occasion, Milanese studio Calvi Brambilla was asked to design the brand's architectural stand, which was divided into five areas arranged around a central courtyard and united by a terracotta band and interspersed with lush green planting.

The stand's areas included a contemporary urban interior, a contract setting, a lounge area, a Mediterranean terrace and a garden, which visitors were invited to wander around at their leisure.

Jouin, who also runs Paris-based studio Agence Jouin Manku alongside Sanjit Manku, is a longtime Pedrali collaborator having previously designed five other collections for the brand including a line of seating called Ila and the Ester seating collection.

Ester is a collection that is created for "elegance, ergonomics and functionality". The furniture piece is designed for comfort and is equipped with an upholstered polyurethane foam shell and aluminium legs.
